St. Gregory's Footprints

Service Opportunities

One of the most important ways that we, as Catholic young adults, express our faith is by helping others less fortunate than ourselves.  There are two basic ways that the group attempts to accomplish this goal:

1. Through local service projects. Here at St. Gregory, we have done many service projects such as helping Mision Posible, Amor en Accion, Sisters of Charity, and a favorite, Shepherds Way.  We have received many commendations for our service work from Shepherds Way, one of which you can read here.

2. Through donations to Catholic Charities or other ministry organizations.  These would include money that was raised from selling items or from a prior event (for example, a dance).  The money proceeds would then be given to that charity or ministry organization.  Recently the group donated $500 to Catholic Relief Services for those in South Asia (i.e Indonesia) that were greatly affected by a tsunami earthquake in late December 2004. Read the acknowledgement letter from CRS here.

Please also keep in mind that this ministry is run by its members. It takes many hands to keep FOOTPRINTS running. All members are welcome and encouraged to volunteer their gifts and talents to the ministry itself.  Thank you!

VISITING ANGELS

Finally a new aspect of Footprints Service Ministry is starting. Its called Visiting Angels and will consist of Footprints Young Adults going to home bound people and visiting, praying or possibly running errands for them. The group has done this with a few people in the past and the Visiting Angels name ties perfectly into what the group was doing. Luke Rissmiller and William Robinson along with Mary Sturm, who is the Eucharistic Minister at St. Gregory's will be the main leaders and planners for this new service ministry.
