Pray for the St. Gregory's Clergy

Pray for Monsignor Fogarty as he has recently had surgery.  No disclosures of the surgery or his timetable on his return to administrative duties at St. Gregory's.

Update 9/28/2005

First of all, I'd like to assure everyone that Father Baker continues to improve and is doing

well, heartened by all of the support that everyone has been offering him, as well as the prayers.

I saw him briefly the other night and he is in very good spirits, although understandably still not

able to resume his duties.  Let us continue to pray for him as his recovery progresses.

Footprints Member's Prayer Requests

as of 9/28/2005

The following people have submitted prayer requests for all to view and add to individual prayers and prayer chains.  For confidentiality and personal reasons, only the person's initials will be used followed by their prayer request.

S. I.  From a friend in the Catholic Circle Group at Cornell University,

       Amigos,

Could you please pray for me and my unborn baby (Rosario Angeline). I'm in my 38 week of

pregnancy and tomorrow, Thursday, I will be induced into labor due to pregnancy

complications, please pray that we both can come home soon.

San Miguel, San Rafael, and San Gabriel pray for us!

       Gracias!

       Laura

C. D.  I spoke to my mom tonight and I would like to add both of my parents to the prayer chain. My

Dad has been suffering with severe backache due to probably a kidney stone and is on some

heavy pain medication and now my mom has had pains in her right side and back since last

night. She went to the Dr. today who sent her to the hospital for a sonogram and x-rays and

they ruled out kidney stones and appendicitis. I want to pray that they get better and can stop

taking the heavy pain medications that make them drowsy. I don't like seeing my parents in

pain and the doctors can't figure out what is wrong with either of them. My Dad's urologist

told him it was not a kidney stone, but they only X-rayed him and did not do the dye test that

my youngest sister always has done. I will be praying for them too, but I am on the worried

           side right now.

My mom doesn't want to even make any plans for the next few weeks because she does not

know what is wrong and we are flying to PA to see her parents in one month. My family needs

           prayers.

Prayer for the hurricane victims

Lord, we pray for all who have been harmed by Hurricane Katrina and ask that you hear your people who cry out to you in need. Be for us a beacon of light in the midst of shadows and help us to never be afraid.

Bring courage to the homeless.

Bring comfort to the lost.

Bring hope to the needy.

Bring rest to the weary.

Gather in your arms the souls of all who have departed this life due to Hurricane Katrina and through the hardships and dangers that must be endured, Lead us home to the shores of peace.

May Mary, the Star of the Sea, guide and protect us.

Hail Mary,

Full of Grace,

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed art thou among women,

and blessed is the fruit

of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary,

Mother of God,

pray for us sinners now,

and at the hour of death.

Amen.

2004 Hurricane Frances Tragedy

As young adults who are not even halfway through our expected life span, we rarely have to deal with death among our peers.  Sadly, we lost one of our young adult members on Saturday, September 4th. Geena Torres-Hodgins (pictured below) was killed when the auto she was in was "t-boned" by another vehicle in Tamarac at one of many four way intersections with nonworking traffic signals.

Leanne Valdes, one of the Footprints Group's former leader and member, had kept in touch with Geena the last few years and has created a special website dedicated to the memory of Geena. "In Loving Memory of Geena" is located at http://www.InOurHeartsAlways.com and will contain memorable pictures and other information.

Please pray for the friends and families of Geena. This could have happened to any of us.

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God will open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak."             Paul's Letter to the Colossians (4: 2 - 4)

Holy Days / Days of Importance

Father of all, we pray to thee for those we love, but see no longer: grant them thy peace; let light perpetually shine on them; and in thy loving wisdom and almighty power, work in them the same good purpose of thy perfect will; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
